21 January 1959 Afterburner

The 21 January 1959 issue of Afterburner was noticeable weak in graphics and artwork, with only one cartoon and a couple of banners for recurring articles. Still interesting though.
Is that a rat he's enlisting? Huh? Funny or otherwise it's obviously not a Yokota product.
The banner for a regular feature in the sports section on the rifle club. Probablydone locally.
Another banner for a regular feature in the paper that gave, what else, legal information and advice. Also likely locally done.
Another banner. This one was for a regular sports section article about US Air Force sports in Japan. It's worth noting that in 1959 sports -- both playing and watching -- were a huge recreational activity. As for the person, A2/C John E. Boyle, as we'll see in some upcoming blog entries was the creative force behind the Yokota newspaper at the beginning of 1959. I wonder what happened to him?
